More Metro Vancouver grocery store workers confirmed positive for COVID-19

New confirmed virus cases have been announced for people working at stores in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey.

Workers at major grocery and drugstore chains operating in the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health authorities have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). 

New confirmed virus cases have been announced for people working at stores in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey in the Lower Mainland.

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of Real Canadian Superstore and Shoppers Drug Mart stores provided an update to its COVID-19 employee case listings on Dec. 7. 

The affected stores are as follows:

  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 7155 Kingsway, Burnaby: The last day the team member worked was on Nov. 29. 
  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 16050 24th Ave, Surrey: The last day the team member worked was on Dec. 1.  
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 4700 Kingsway, Burnaby: The last day the team member worked was on Dec. 1. 
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 350 SE Marine Drive, Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on Nov. 30.    

Sobeys, Inc, the parent company of Safeway has indicated on its case tracker that an employee working in one of its Metro Vancouver stores has tested positive for the virus. The affected store is as follows:

  • Safeway, 8860, 152 Street, Surrey: The last day the employee worked was Dec. 2

None of the stores indicated above are considered coronavirus public exposure locations by either Vancouver Coastal Health or Fraser Health.
