More employees from major grocery and drug store chains across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have recently tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), according to the stores' parent companies.

Stores with newly infected staff are located within B.C.'s Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health authorities. In some instances, the updates reflect stores with additional cases to those previously reported.

Sobeys Inc., which operates B.C. chains Thirfty Foods and Safeway, and is the franchisor of discount grocery company FreshCo, has added more Lower Mainland cases to its online tracker:

  • Safeway - 2315 West 4 Avenue, Vancouver: Store employee last worked May 5
  • Safeway - 20871 Fraser Highway, Langley: Store employee last worked May 7

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart, Wholesale Club, and Your Independent Grocer updated its COVID-19 employee case tracker May 11 to indicate the following new store worker cases across the Lower Mainland:

  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 3020 West Broadway, Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on May 8
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 350 S.E. Marine Dr, Vancouver: The last day either of the two infected team members worked was on May 3 and 5
  • Dean's No Frills Vancouver, 4508 Fraser Street, Vancouver: The last day either of the two infected team members worked was on May 2 and 4
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 32136 Lougheed Highway, Mission: The last day either of the two infected team members worked was on April 29 and May 5

While T&T Supermarket is owned by Loblaw, the Canadian Asian grocery chain lists its COVID-19 cases separately on its own site and has had no employee at work in the last two weeks who has since tested positive for the virus
