Vancouver Shoppers Drug Mart employee among new store worker COVID-19 cases in region

Employees at stores in Langley and North Delta also confirmed as having the virus

An employee of the Shoppers Drug Mart at 1125 Davie St in Vancouver has recently tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Several more employees at grocery and drug stores owned by Loblaw and Sobeys in Metro Vancouver have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). 

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of retail chains Shoppers Drug Mart and Your Independent Grocer provided updates to its COVID-19 employee case listings on Feb. 23-25. 

The following stores have newly-reported staff COVID-19 cases at Loblaw-owned stores in Metro Vancouver: 

  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 1125 Davie St Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on Feb. 19.
  • Hakam's Your Independent Grocery, 20678 Willoughby Centre Dr., Langley: The last day the team member worked was on Feb. 19.
  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 4030 200th St, Unit 1 Langley: The last day the team member worked was on Feb. 18.

Additionally, Loblaw has recently reported numerous employee COVID-19 cases located outside Metro Vancouver in the Interior Health and Island Health regions, including from the Real Canadian Superstore on Cowichan Way in Duncan, where "multiple" team members tested positive for the virus. 

Sobeys Inc, which operates stores like Safeway and Thrifty Foods, updated its B.C. coronavirus employee case tracker this week to include

  • Safeway - 6401 120 STREET, Delta: Two infected employees; their last shifts were on Feb. 18 and 19, respectively.

Elsewhere in B.C., Sobeys has reported cases at its stores in Prince Rupert and Courtenay.
