Let’s get quilting. More than 100 spectacular, artistic quilts will be featured this Saturday and Sunday at The Pipe Shop at the Shipyards for the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild’s Modern Quilt Showcase, running from noon to 8 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 26. Admission is $5 and is free for children under 12.
Sell your stuff or buy some neat wares in a garage sale-style format at Mollie Nye House in Lynn Valley tomorrow during a Community Yard Sale and Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Proceeds from the yard sale are earmarked to help support a number of local seniors with medical issues, with the goal of raising $1,500 by day’s end. The North Vancouver Shipyards is being turned into a vibrant multi-platform artistic festival on Sunday when the 2018 Tabestoon Festival rolls into town. The festival, which celebrates contemporary Iranian arts, music and culture with a number of free and ticketed events, will offer up entertainment on multiple stages, including a bazaar, artists’ alley, live music and Persian cuisine. Events kick off at noon.

The annual festival kicks off at Panorama Park this Sunday, where a musical mainstage, amphitheatre side stage, a midway of kids’ rides, food court, beer garden, artisan alley and much more will be on tap from noon to 7 p.m. Roots rockers Horse Opera take the stage at 3 p.m.
The Vancouver Venturers Walking Club wants to get you moving. The club is inviting people to walk the Green Necklace urban greenway trail that links parks, public spaces and natural habitats in North Vancouver on Sunday from 9:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Would-be walkers should meet at Harry Jerome Community Centre before setting out as a group.
