If you have a spare 75 grand burning a hole in your pocket, the Balvenie Fifty: Marriage 0962 will fit the bill.

A bottle of one of the world’s rarest and finest whiskies debuted in Canada yesterday, and it for sale at a Vancouver store.

Indeed, the Balvenie Fifty: Marriage 0962is in a league of its own. Not only is it rare (there are only 110 across the world), but it is extremely expensive.

And just how expensive is extremely expensive?

Try a jaw-dropping $75,000 at its lowest selling price — with some bottles selling for a whopping $100,000.

This highly anticipated spirit debuted at JAK’S Beer Wine Spirits in Vancouver on Thursday, Dec. 6. It is the only bottle in Canada.

“Marrying aged whisky stocks is undoubtedly one of the most challenging, yet enjoyable facets of my role as the Balvenie Malt Master,” comments David C. Stewart, malt master for Balvenie.

The impressive spirit is comes from four American Oak casks aged at least 50 years.

According to a press release, “Stewart selected four casks into an exquisite whole that combines and enhances their many delicate notes. The final liquid, bottled at 41.6 per cent ABV, combines malt and oak with brown sugar, toffee and ground ginger on the nose, followed by further oaky notes, maple syrup, tangy citrus and classic honeyed Balvenie sweetness to taste. The finish is long and lingering, with dried fruits and vanilla oaky spice notes.”

Can’t afford the $75,000? Balvenie offers a range of delicious single malts that are all rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by a distinctive honeyed character.

JAK’S Beer Wine Spirits is home to the prized bottle and is located in South Granville at 2658 Granville St.
