They say that where there’s smoke … there’s a shelter cat patiently waiting to find his forever home. Such is the case for Smokey, who, come August, will have been a resident at the Canadian Animal Rescue & Extended Shelter (C.A.R.E.S.) for a full year.
“Despite the fact that this sweet boy was found abandoned in a neighbourhood in Langley, we suspect Smokey has had a previous family as he is as sweet as can be!” says C.A.R.E.S. director Allison Burton.
The eight-year-old brown tabby, she adds, is “a big love bug. He loves to be petted and rolls around for belly rubs. You can always count on him to run up to you for some chin scratches and love nibbles!”
Looking for an indoor-only home without dogs or young children (though other feline-friendly cats would be fine), Smokey is a fiend for catnip and enjoys finding it on top of his scratching post.
“After a good ‘cat-nipping’ session – and a light snack! – he always settles down for a much-needed siesta,” Burton says.
