Flight Club Artistic Movement, the first martial arts tricking facility in B.C., is opening in Richmond this week.

“Tricking” is a growing martial arts trend that combines kicks, flips and twists from gymnastics and dance. The new facility will offer unique programs compared to traditional gym facilities, such as martial art tricking, cheerleading and parkour.

“When you watch an action movie, like the Avengers with some really cool flips and tricks, that is because of tricking,” said Ka Mak, one of the founder at Flight Club Artistic Movement.

“In the future we aim to become a central location for various Artistic Movements, or other sports that are not typically found.”

Ka said they launched this facility to cater to growing interests in this unique martial arts movement. The facility offers classes for all age groups as well as special programs for younger kids. Parkour, Cheerleading, Drama for children, etc.

“The programs will encourage learning by movement and develop their (younger kids) interest for movement early on.”

The grand opening will be 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21st at 160-11780 Hammersmith Way, Richmond.
