The plants of Art Knapp have a way of hypnotizing you with their colours, confusing your sense of touch with their unusual textures and manipulating your sense of smell with their different fragrances of life.

Walking into Art Knapp is like walking into a maze. Nothing is as it seems from a distance; theres some sort of surprise in every corner and just when you think youve found your way out, something catches your eye and holds you back. Eventually, you become trapped, but thats okay.

Art Knapps plants come in all different kinds of personalities some are short, but will prick anyone who tries to take advantage of them, while others are tall and graceful. Some bring calm and others can brighten up a room.

Its all about showing you how plants can be a part of your life, says Katie McLellan, manager of Art Knapps Hornby location.

Through interacting with their customers, the employees have developed strong relationships. Along with communicating with their suppliers to find the freshest and healthiest plants, they also talk to their customers to find out what sort of plants work for them.

Art Knapp has also gotten used to adjusting to their environment. Because this particular location is surrounded by condos, they specialize in smaller plants to place on balconies or on tables without taking up too much space. Also, since more people are riding their bikes everywhere, smaller plants are more ideal for those customers to take home.

McLellan says Art Knapps way of customer service is to help find people what they want, what works for their space as well as lifestyle and to show them how to take care of their plants.

Youll find that employees will enquire about your life, asking you a series of questions such as the size, direction and amount of light that enters your living space in order to find your match.

Creative minds go into plants and finding stuff what works, she says.

As Art Knapp continues to challenge our senses, adjust to our lives and grow with the people of Vancouver, they do so, as best of the city.
