Boulevard's Sunday Seafood Boil returns this summer.

Mega Ill, the marijuana-themed pizzeria that had a mercifully-short run on Kingsway and Fraser, has been replaced by something much more promising – and considerably less pungent. Crowbar, a new joint venture from L’Abattoir’s Jeremy Pigeon and William Johnson, aims to be a neighbourhood eatery with a solid cocktail program. Edibles will be helmed by Chris Scott (formerly of Wildebeest) and Scott Korzack (formerly of Beach Bay Café and L’Abattoir).

Provence Marinaside has expanded on its “Tappy Hour” and “Wine Wednesdays” programs with the addition of live music from the Hip Pocket Quartet every Wednesday, 4:30pm-7:30pm. With 145 wines available by the glass, as well as happy hour food and wine specials 3pm-5pm, this should make “hump day” a little more exciting.

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar has announced the return of its popular Sunday Seafood Boil supper series. Beginning on July 10 and continuing each Sunday through to Aug. 28, each family-style meal will include fresh-caught jumbo prawns, clams, mussels, crawfish and Dungeness crab with all the fixings, plus sides such as potatoes, bacon cornbread and corn, as well as dessert. Also included is a complimentary glass of sparkling wine upon arrival. Tickets $59 per person, minimum two-guest reservation.

And, speaking of seafood feasts…Yew Seafood & Bar is also hosting a seafood feast, featuring Dungess crab and lobster, on July 10, 17 and 24. This communal three-course supper includes Little Gem lettuce salad, steamed new potatoes, grilled asparagus, heirloom tomato confit, green butter beans, housemade brioche, and, of course, lots of crab and lobster, as well as warm summer fruit pie for dessert. Tickets are $89 per person.

On Aug. 11, Fin to Tail, a new event hosted at Vancouver Aquarium, will bring together four top chefs for a night of cooking demos, wine and beer to celebrate ocean conservation. Participating chefs include Jonathan Chuy of La Mazcaleria, Clement Chan of Torafuku, Ned Bell of Vancouver Aquarium, as well as top talent from Fresh Ideas Start Here (FISH). Tickets $90 per person.

Plan ahead for this one…Edible Canada, in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, will be hosting an “over the top” culinary adventure June 16 to 23, 2017. This week-long guided trip will take guests across the top of Canada in a private jet, with stops in Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Iqualuit, Rankin Inlet and St. John’s, as well as an additional optional stop on Fogo Island, for culinary experiences and dinners cooked by top chefs, including Ned Bell, Rob Gentile of Bar Buca in Toronto, Derek Damman of Maison Publique in Montreal, and Jeremy Charles of Raymond’s in St. John’s. At almost $12,000 per person, this trip isn’t for everyone, but then, few once-in-a-lifetime experiences are.
