A new concept in denimology has blended fitness with fashion to create jeans that you can get down in at the disco, get tipsy in a tree pose, and pretty much break a sweat in without looking like a hot mess.
Dish Jeans founders and industry veterans Gary Lenett and Steven Sal Debus are urban cyclists and active guys by nature, and both needed clothing that would be adaptable to their busy lifestyles.
After a year of researching the human body – how it moves in all of life’s situations – they have found what they feel is the best technical fabrics and put them in to clothing that people can wear everyday in any environment.
“We want you to take on any challenge without worrying about what you are wearing,” says Lenett. The result is denim that is 30 per cent lighter and 30 per cent stronger, with five times more mobility than any other traditional jean in the current marketplace.
Many women find it hard to pop out for a quick workout during the lunch break before heading back to the office. Unlike men, we take more time to pull ourselves together and will often just forgo the workout altogether.
But the Tencel jeans are tight and lightweight enough to stretch or run in, and they absorb moisture, making it easy to get back to work in no time in style!
Tencel is a comfortable fabric with a natural wood pulp and chemical-free composition that absorbs moisture inside the fibre so that there is enough moisture for your skin to breathe and feel comfortable but not enough to feel damp or clammy like cotton.
I would suggest the L2X denim for days when you are biking to work and going straight in to a big meeting at the office. L2X denim helps regulate body temperature, stay cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold. The common consensus is that this jean is perfect for our inclement Vancouver weather! Dish denim dries quickly and uses fibres with a channeling surface that maintain a natural feel that is soft, lightweight and breathable. More good news, the elastic memory prevents saggy knees and bums too.
For guys, the DU/ER men’s performance denim fuses technology and fashion with 2 different fits – slim and relaxed which work for almost all body types, including guys with more muscular frames. Two innovative aspects of the DU/ER line include an invisible seat gusset often found in performance wear, which allows for more maneuverability in the area that you need it most. There is also a cell phone pocket radiation shield feature, whether your cell phone overheats, or you’re concerned about the potential radiation exposure, this fabric helps reduce the amount of radiation coming in contact with your skin. In my opinion that is the coolest and most important feature. I’m just waiting for the lady version with a radiation shield in the back pocket. Until then maybe I’ll try these out! Gives new meaning to the boyfriend jeans.
