According to the Dudepins website, the idea for a manlier version of Pinterest came from the virile equation of 2 dudes + 2 computers + 1 idea + infinite scotch = non-infinite income.
There actually was scotch,says Dudepins co-founder Kamil Szybalski, who started the site with Colin Brown. It was at least three quarters [of a bottle] of Johnnie Walker Black. I know it sounds like an over-exaggerated story, but it was really us sitting on a deck, smoking cigars and having a scotch and having a really good old time.
The Dudepins site is a venue, a community where men and women, who are referred to as Dudettes can share their interests via online pinboard.
While the notion of manly has become a very ambiguous as of late, Dudepins provides some clarity in the definition of masculine content as something that injects enough testosterone to tickle your sub-cockles (which may or may not refer to testicles, Urban Dictionary explains). Organized over 15 categories, the pins on the site are masculine in a Don-Draper-meets-I-love-you-brah kind of way.
Its basically a way for people to browse male interests and organize them and engage other dudes into them and share, says the Kits resident who moved from Toronto about a year ago. Its a just community of male interests.
So far, there has been a lot of interest. Szybalski says that they have been experiencing 30 to 50 per cent user growth. In early November, the partners plan on launching a new, non-beta rebranded site along with applications for the iPhone and Android platforms.
Were moving towards defining a community, a defining a brand for Dudepins,he says. Were not just going to be a site; were going to be a serious touch-point for men to visit and to relate to.

Szybalski laughs.
