Destination: Moeraki Boulders, South Island, New Zealand
Favourite memories of trip: Long-time friends Don and Heather Harvey showed me The Moeraki Boulders on Koekohe Beach, 40 km south of Oamaru on the Otago coast. The largest of the 50 boulders weighs seven tons and is three metres wide. It is thought that these spherical boulders were dislodged from mudstone and some also are streaked with cracks mysteriously filled with gold coloured calcite.
