Fresh Ideas Start Here (FISH) has launched a new FISHbar at both its Kitsilano and Burnaby locations. Enjoy small or large bowls filled with smoked Coho salmon or wild sockeye, yellowfin tuna, local octopus, shoyu ikura, smoked uni, herring roe, and more, over brown or white rice, topped with fresh and pickled vegetables, fried onion chips, and more. H2 Rotisserie and Bar is offering a Pride edition fresh sheet, available until Aug. 10. The three course family-style menu (minimum two people) is available for $40 per person, and includes caprese salad with rainbow heirloom tomatoes; crab legs with fingerling potatoes, roasted heirloom carrots, steamed broccolini, and white wine lemon butter sauce; and rainbow cake with vanilla cake, white chocolate and cream cheese icing. On Sunday, Aug. 20, from 10am to 3pm, the Sharing Farm Society will host the ninth annual Garlic Festival, a celebration of the stinking rose, at its farm in Richmond. A number of chefs from Richmond and Vancouver will be offering up garlic-based treats, including garlic ice cream. The Sharing Farm will also be selling its own three varietals of garlic. There will also be a kids area, live entertainment, an expanded farmers market and cooking demonstrations.
