The West Sides storied Lumiere and Db Bistro Lumiere will close on March 13, marking the dissolution of the business relationship between locals Manjy and David Sidoo and international chef/restaurateur Daniel Boulud. The sad news comes just over two years into a run that most restaurant observers assumed would be a lengthy one. There is no indication yet where talented young chefs Dale Mackay and Nathan Guggenheimer will end up, but we will let you know as soon as we do.

Latitude, the Pan-American-themed restaurant at 3250 Main, has been under the knife for last few weeks, but has now emerged from its chrysalis with a refreshed design (courtesy of local design crew Evoke), expanded menu from chef Lisa Henderson (with a concentration of new arepas dishes for the bar), and a newly-minted Latin cocktail card from former Vancouver magazine Bartender of the Year, Nick Devine (604-875-6246, latitudeonmain.com).

Yaletowns Blue Water Cafe is playing host to what sounds like a superb California-themed wine dinner on Thursday March 10, featuring five courses by award-winning chef Frank Pabst and rare wine pairings by 2009 Sommelier of the Year Andrea Vescovi. The cost is $160, plus tax and gratuity. For tickets and details, email manager Stephan Cachard at stephan@bluewatercafe.net (1095 Hamilton, 604-688-8078, bluewatercafe.net).
