Jay Jones has just been signed on by the Vancouver Canucks as the new director of wine and beverage for Rogers Arena. Jones, a talented bartender and certified sommelier, has been named Canada’s Bartender of the Year by Enroute, as well as Vancouver’s Most Imaginative Bartender by GQ. And in other food truck news, FarmCity Fresh Cart, a partnership between Re-Up BBQ and FarmCity Co-op, is now on the streets. This first-of-its-kind cart sells local, sustainably-farmed produce, as well as artisan goods from local producers. Look for cold-pressed juices from SPUD, cocktail bitters from Bittered Sling, seeds and merchandise from Victory Gardens, artisan pasta from Pasta Famiglia, as well as meat and deli products. Following the relaxing of BC’s liquor laws, Township 7 Winery is the first artisan winery in the province to sell their wine at a farmers’ market. Watch for more wine and other artisan beverage sales at markets all over the Lower Mainland this summer.

Vista d’Oro Farms & Winery in Langley is holding their third annual Walnut Festival on July 19 from 1-4pm.
