Chefs share their passion for food
Two dozen of Vancouvers top chefs will share their passion for good food at the 9th annual Passions fundraiser for the Dr. Peter Foundation on September 9. Sip bubbly as you mix and mingle with Dr. Peters friends and family while tucking into food truck bites from Roaming Dragon. Then enjoy a dinner prepared by Beachside Forno, Cibo, Chambar, CinCin, Coast, Diva at the Met, Forage, Fraiche, Hapa Izakaya, Kale and Nori, Le Gavroches, Maenam, Market, MIX the Bakery, Oru at the Fairmont Pacific Rims Oru, Provence, The Observatory, Tojos and West, as well as newcomers La Belle Auberge, Miku/Minami, Urban Fare and Yew. Be a pirate for a day
For the first time, adults can also eat like a kid during WhiteSpots one-day fundraiser for Zajac Ranch for Children. On August 15 only, for every Pirate Pak sold, White Spot will donate $2 to the camp to help fund its many wonderful recreation opportunities for special-needs kids. Pirates older than 10 can enjoy the legendary burger, a bacon cheddar bigger burger, a BC chicken burger or a mushroom and provolone veggie burger. The decorative pack comes with coleslaw, French fries, ice cream and pop. Nat Bailey Pale Ale and Nat Bailey Lager by Granville Island Brewing are also on tap.
New restaurants
Cork and Fin has opened a sister restaurant at 1590 Commercial Drive, Merchants Oyster Bar. It is similar in concept and design to its popular Gastown sibling. The Bottleneck Bar, 870 Granville below the Commodore Ballroom, features cocktails, gourmet Vancouver food, craft beer, and music.
