Hey Jude opens a permanent home

Congrats to the hard-working ladies at Hey Jude who opened a full-time, permanent retail boutique in Gastown last week. The boutique-style store carries seasonal collections, built around hand-selected and altered vintage pieces, with a minimalist modern feel. Local stylists and founders of Hey Jude, Lauren Clark and Lyndsey Chow, are tackling their first full-time venture after hosting a handful of successful pop-up shops in various Vancouver neighborhoods. The duo plan to introduce exciting collaborations and product launches in the new space, from local and international brands, as well as host in-store events to boost community engagement. Circle Craft market

Circle Craft presents its 42nd annual Christmas Craft Market from Nov. 11 to 15, open from 10am daily, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Adult admission is $14; seniors and students, $12; and admission is free for children ages 12 and younger. The market offers locals a chance to come face-to-face with BC and Canadian artisans and their work. CircleCraft.net

A game changer

Respect Your Universe (RYU) plans to change the game in the athletic fashion industry with the launch of its athletic technical training apparel and the opening of a flagship store later this year. The brand originated in the US but was moved to Vancouver in 2014 after being purchased by local fashion retail bigwig Marcello Leone. After a year spent reimagining and redesigning the brand, RYU has created, what the company calls in a press release, a “game-changing collection of apparel inspired by the concept of beautiful tough.” RYU.com

Trunk show

Gastown’s One of a Few hosted a Rachel Comey trunk show last week. Attendees got to meet the team behind the brand and see the new fall/winter 2015 collection. The locally-owned boutique – a favourite to many fashion insiders and trendsetters – also carries the Rachel Comey clothing line, along with a number of other fashion-forward brands. New TOPSHOP collection

TOPSHOP is revealing a new collection next week, with pieces from the Unique Resort 2016 collection, which references British style and heritage, will launch at TOPSHOP Vancouver Downtown and TheBay.com on Nov. 4.
