Oru, at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, is officially closing its doors following breakfast service on Jan. 2. Regular service will continue at Giovane Café & Eatery, and at the Lobby Lounge and Raw Bar. A new restaurant concept is already in the works under design firm Ste. Marie Design and branding company Glasfurd & Walker, both known for their work on restaurants such as Savio Volpe, Kissa Tanto and L’Abattoir. Stay tuned for more details.

Bauhaus Restaurant has announced special Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve menus. The four-course Christmas Eve menu ($100 per person) will be available from noon until closing, and features butter-poached lobster, cod, braised beef and dessert. The five-course New Year’s Eve menu ($120 per person) will be available throughout the evening; it includes mushroom consommé with ham tortellini and black truffle, beef tenderloin and oxtail ragout, seafood and dessert. Cibo Trattoria will be offering a traditional Italian “Feast of the Seven Fishes” menu on Christmas Eve only. The seven-course dinner includes baccala fritters, octopus terrine with potato purée, branzino, Dungeness crab tagliolini, clam-and-mussels cacciucco, scallop crudo, and sweet cannoli. Glowbal is once again holding its New Year’s Day brunch buffet, with more than 100 items available, including carving stations, omelette stations, seafood, eggs benedict, pastry tables, salads, and a multitude of other items. Les Amis du Fromage is once again offering its seasonal handmade tourtière at both the Kitsilano and East Van locations. A five-inch pie costs $12.50, while the larger 10-inch model is $38. BuyCheese.com
