Kit and Ace opening a second location in Vancouver
Local luxury retailer Kit and Ace announced its second retail location on West 4th (2235 West 4th), slated to launch July 1. The company, founded by Shannon and JJ Wilson (wife and son of lululemon founder Chip Wilson) designs contemporary luxury apparel made from QemirTM, a proprietary fabric that includes washable cashmere. The most recent shop opening is one of 10 announced new locations across North America, following the rapid expansion of the company, which opened its first location in Vancouver nine months ago. Kit and Ace has seven shops throughout North America, and is projecting to open 50 shops worldwide by the end of this year.
Eugene Choo launches collection from Dust designer
Main Street boutique Eugene Choo is launching an exclusive capsule collection by Dust designer Heather Young. Eugene Choo Collection is available in store and online. The collection is the result of many conversations between Eugene Choo owner Kildare Curtis and the designer. The Eugene Choo Collection features skirts, tops and dresses in linen and cotton. Each piece is versatile, with the ability to dress the pieces up and down, layer and mix and match. The idea behind this collection was to create the four essential pieces that any woman would want and need for summer. The collection also features an exclusive collaboration with local designers Banquet Atelier and Workshop, with a 1950s-inspired skirt made from Banquet’s lip fabric.
Fashion cause to help fight ovarian cancer
Ovarian Cancer Canada presents a luxury fashion show to raise awareness about one of the most fatal cancers for women on Wednesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. The event, called LOVE HER, features a champagne reception, fashion from Marilyn’s of West Vancouver and VG Shoes, plus entertainment from Canadian comedian Jessica Holmes. The evening is a glamorous showcase of some of the city’s finest fashions while raising much-needed funds to support Ovarian Cancer Canada.
McArthurGlen Vancouver Airport readies for outlet opening
McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport announced recently that construction of the centre is progressing, with the architectural details of the facades and rooftops now fully under way. McArthurGlen will bring the European designer outlet concept to Vancouver. It will also be recruiting 600 retail positions for this first phase of development, and the centre will announce dates for a Careers Fair later this month. The shopping centre will have around 80 stores and more than 240,000 square feet of retail space and is slated to open in spring.
Design visit at Holts
Rebecca Minkoff, a fashion industry leader in handbags, is stopping by Holt Renfrew Vancouver on Friday, March 27, from 2 to 4pm. The designer will sign purchases, and the store will offer complimentary monogramming of her bags.
