Looking for a last-minute gift that’s actually from the heart? Or hoping to connect with loved ones who can’t be with you for the holidays?

Vancouver tech startup LeftStuff has created a way for you to share your feelings in a powerful new “Why I Love You” video tool.

Inspired by the knowledge that the holidays can be a lonely time of year for many, LeftStuff has created a free, guided video product that allows Canadians to record and share why they love someone in less than 15 minutes at LeftStuff.com.

“It’s so important to feel connected with loved-ones over the holidays,” says LeftStuff's Bernadette Butler, in a press release. “Especially if family is geographically dispersed.

"Saying ‘I love you’ can sometimes feel like a conversational habit," she continues. "However, sharing a video of all the reasons why you love someone has a lasting, connected and heartfelt impact."

It's an issue close to Butler's heart: the LeftStuff founder lost her father unexpectedly on Christmas. He was living alone in Toronto and she was based in Vancouver.

“I’d give anything to turn back the clock and gift him a video that tells him why I loved him,” she explains.

Helping to capture all the things that are often left unsaid, LeftStuff allows you to share memories, stories and sentiments in a self-guided interview process, using prompts like "your fondest memory", or remembering the "little things" that person has done – kind of like a more intimate version of StoryCorps, an award-winning initiative that collects stories and interviews from across America.

Technical savvy is not required, with LeftStuff stitching each participant’s answers together into one downloadable and shareable HD video.

You might cry, but it could strangely help cure the holiday blues. Check out the tearjerker video for more.
