B.C. Seniors Advocate Isobel will be an hand in the afternoon of Lifetime Seniors Talks & Tables to address attendees and announce the Lifetime Volunteer of the Year Award.

The Vancouver Courier newspaper and Tapestry Foundation are once again partnering to produce Lifetime Seniors Talks & Tables at VanDusen Botanical Garden, Oct. 5 from 11 to 4 p.m.

Launched in 2015, the first Lifetime event was a great success with more than 500 seniors attending.

This free event will once again include fun and instructional demonstrations, booths offering information on supports, services and seniors-related topics, and timely talks.

The winner of the Lifetime Volunteer of the Year Award will also be presented at the event. Along with bragging rights, the award comes with a trip from Ageless Adventures worth $5,000 and a grocery gift card from Stong’s Markets.

On hand to announce the winner will be the province’s first Seniors Advocate Isobel Mackenzie. Other finalists for the award will be profiled in a future edition of the Courier.

This year’s event has expanded and while the speaker series will once be held within VanDusen’s new Visitor Centre, demonstrations and the address by the Seniors Advocate will take place in the Floral Hall, where participants can ask questions of health experts, enjoy free Starbucks coffee and tea, enter to win gift certificates from Stong’s, coupons for free coffee or tea of Truffles at VanDusen and more. Truffles is located within VanDusen Botanical Garden located at 5251 Oak St.
