When James Cluer found out three of his close friends had been diagnosed with breast cancer, he felt helpless. In a press release, the Master of Wine one of only 300 in the world says emails, phone calls and visits didnt feel like enough. Ultimately, one of the friends survived and is back working with Cluer. Another, a client, is still fighting, and the last one sadly passed away.

So he did what he does best, and created a wine, made in the Okanagan by a top Napa winemaker, in collaboration the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - BC/Yukon Region.

The vivacious pink rosé, poignantly named The Girls, retails for $20 and 100 per cent of the profits go to the charity.

In order to raise the goal of $20,000 in October, Cluers Fine Vintage Ltd. will match donations, dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000.

Production is limited; The Girls can be found at Firefly, Libations, Liberty, Point Grey Golf & Country Club, Swirl and Village Wines.

Send your thoughts on the wine to [email protected].
