This week we're checking into the digs of Vancouver's design darling, Jillian Harris. With her permanent home nestled in the natural beauty of Kelowna, Jill keeps on top of the local design scene with a coach house in Kerrisdale. This super stylish small space is the perfect place to crash when she's in town shooting W Network's Love It Or List It Vancouver – her glamorous take on tricks of the trade to make the intimate abode feel open and airy are definitely noteworthy. Creative use of space and treasured finds with a chic twist are paramount to Jillian's design philosophy and have grown her name and aesthetic into household conversation (and inspiration!).

If you're craving more of Harris' fun and personal approach to design, you can check her out at this week's Vancouver Home + Design Show, running today through Sunday, Oct. 25. She'll be taking the Main Stage tomorrow evening at 7pm with her LIOLI co-host, Todd Talbot. The duo will be chatting “For Love Or Money” when it comes to saving and splurging on a home you love.

What is it?: Laneway Home in East Kerrisdale

Occupant: Jillian Harris, host of Love it Or List it Vancouver, owner and creative director of JillianHarris.com

Major selling feature: It is tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood, but still only 10 minutes from downtown. A major selling feature for me was that it was in-between the airport and downtown, which is important for the amount that I travel.

First thing I changed: I made the garage into a man cave! There is a lot of street parking on the street and wanted to maximize the space inside instead.

Feature I brag about: The it’s basically a miniature dollhouse. Everything is cuter and smaller.

That one conversation piece: The fridge. The fridge is an apartment-sized fridge and can’t hold too much. BUT I don’t cook nearly as much in Vancouver so the full size really isn’t necessary.

The décor: Simple, light and feminine. LOTS of white to keep it bright as it is a smaller space!

The story behind the art/antiques/collectibles: My mom has always been a great antique hunter…I think it rubbed off on me. I love saving a good buck for something that tells an amazing story.

Downsides: It is a little far from downtown but I guess you can’t have the best of both worlds

Compared to your last place: More spacious and more homey feeling. Not as much of a concrete jungle.

Favourite apartment/house/condo activity: I’m not in my condo very much…really only to sleep!
