For many, Salt Spring Island — and its world-famous Saturday Market — has become a favourite destination year after year.
And, at least according to the Washington Post, this artists’ colony is also Canada’s “coolest island.”
But while it’s a favourite destination for many, others just haven’t had the opportunity to visit this west coast island paradise. But there’s good news for those who haven’t yet made the trek – Salt Spring is bringing its Saturday Market to Vancouver’s Heritage Hall on Main Street March 23 to 25.
Made on Salt Spring, a curated indoor market, features the products of dozens of makers, creators and designers bringing a piece of the “Rock” with them.
Made on Salt Spring provides a unique opportunity to meet a talented community of inspirational creators the week before the Saturday Market opens on the island. And now’s your chance to discover the wares of woodworkers, designers, jewellers, weavers, and artisans.

“We’re very excited to bring Made on Salt Spring to the city to showcase the best of the island to a mainland audience,” says Made on Salt Spring organizer and artisan Álvaro Sánchez. “We live in a close-knit, supportive community and this is an opportunity for Vancouverites to enjoy the charm of Salt Spring’s rural ambience at a relaxed indoor market where there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Featured Salt Spring creations will include:
- Wheel-thrown, hand-painted functional stoneware from B’s Pottery
- Wood art and prints made on ¼” maple ply from Big Bear and the Wolf
- Original oil paintings, limited edition prints and cards by Stefanie Denz
