Olivia Palermo line now available at Nordstrom

She went from being the mean girl on a reality show to a celebrated fashion icon. Seriously, every single fashion what-to-wear list features this savvy style maven, and now Vancouver shoppers can get a piece of the action with her new utterly chic and – gasp – affordable line from Olivia Palermo and available locally at Nordstrom. The Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 collection features 32 styles of separates with roots in American sportswear staples. The well-curated spring collection features separates in signature prints and quality fabrics such as suede, silk, and leather, as well as an assortment of denim pieces, including high-rise culottes, a ‘70s-inspired skirt, a four-button blazer and a wide-leg jumpsuit – all classified as what Palermo calls “life pieces.” Palermo partnered with Nordstrom Product Group, the retailer’s private label, to develop the line for house brand Chelsea28, which focuses on modern feminine fashion at an accessible price point. The one-year partnership will produce four collections including spring, summer, fall and holiday. The Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 collection ranges in price from $98 to $688.

VCC alumna wins fashion award

Meghan Buckley, a 2015 alumna of the Vancouver Community College (VCC) Fashion Arts diploma program, has been nominated for the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA) Fashion Design Student Award. She is one of four graduates selected as a possible recipient of the new prize that will be presented to an exceptional recent graduate from a Canadian fashion design program. Created to celebrate and support the Canadian fashion industry, CAFA is in its third year. Buckley was nominated, in part, for the stand-out work in her five-piece graduation collection, which featured unique prints. The line was originally shown as part of Fiat Mode, the VCC Fashion Arts show in September 2015 at Vancouver Fashion Week and was also seen on Vogue.co.uk. After graduating, Buckley interned at Gentle Fawn, who have since hired her as an assistant designer. Winners will be announced at the 2016 Canadian Arts and Fashion awards gala on April 15 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. For more information, visit VCC.ca and CAFAwards.ca.

Spring at Holts

Holt Renfrew recently launched its latest campaign for spring: All together at Holts. The campaign turns the lens onto the Holts community and spotlights the diverse style sensibilities and backgrounds of Canadians, from right across the country. This marks Holt Renfrew’s second All Together At Holt’s seasonal campaign, which celebrates the Holt Renfrew (a company that has been in existence since 1837) shopping experience. Eighteen Holt Icon Privileges customers are featured in the print and digital campaign, each speaking to their individual style, the new season, and the Holt’s community. All Together At Holts will be live through April 19, as part of a national campaign and will appear in Holt Renfrew stores across Canada, as well as online at HoltRenfrew.com with images and behind-the-scenes footage. The images will also appear on the covers of Holt Renfrew’s spring 2016 magazine, and the campaign will come to life in-store with a star-studded launch event, as well as an Instagram photo studio, where customers can curate a professional Instagram photo of luxury spring fashion and share using #AllTogetherAtHolts for the chance to win a Holt Renfrew gift card.
