Nominations are now open for Phillips Brewing Company's fourth annual Benefit Brew.
Each year, the Victoria brewery creates a custom beer for a BC charity, complete with a new label. All proceeds from the limited edition beer – roughly $10,000 – will be dontated to the cause.
What cause, exactly? That's up to you.
The public has until Oct. 26 to nominate a charity – and, perhaps best of all, choose what kind of beer Phillips should brew – after which time the brewery will select 10 charities to participate in a public vote, beginning Nov. 2. All 10 charities selected will also receive a $500 donation.
The winner will be announced on Nov. 17. The beer will be brewed throughout December, followed by a limited 650ml release sometime in January. For more information on the project, see the video below.
Past honourees include Little People of BC in 2013 (with the Blood Orange Wit), Cetus Research & Conservation Society in 2012 (who created the Leviathan Milk Stout) and the Ancient Forest Alliance in 2011 (with the Ancient Brown Ale).
All federally registered charity can be nominated, although children's charities cannot be accepted due to age-related alcohol marketing regulations.
