Plenty expands
Plenty is living up to its name with an ever-expanding footprint. The clothing store recently unveiled its eighth location at Plenty Park Royal. Last week the Plenty team held an opening, hosted by Joy Pecknold of FASHION Magazine, to celebrate the latest store. Proceeds from the event went towards the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. Plenty started with a single location in Kitsilano and now has, along with West Van, locations throughout Metro Vancouver, and one on Vancouver Island and in Calgary.
Goodge turns one!
South Granville gift and houseware store Goodge Place celebrates its one-year anniversary this month. Located at 1523 West Eighth, the store is an ideal stop for gift shopping this holiday season. The store will celebrate the milestone on Saturday, Nov. 28, from noon to 5pm with nibbles, drinks, and 15 per cent off all purchases, including new stock; partial proceeds will be donated to a local charity.
City’s best on display at Western Front craft fair
Start the season off by giving…and getting beautiful artisan-crafted pieces. The Western Front's annual holiday fundraiser and craft fair, aptly known – given the season and setting – as Toque, runs Friday, Dec. 4 to Sunday, Dec. 6, at 303 East Eighth (in the Luxe Hall at Western Front). Proceeds from the fundraising event support Western Front's year-round art and music programs. Save the date and join the opening night party, Friday Dec. 4 from 6-10pm, for cocktails, food, and shopping. This year’s line-up includes Coral + Cloud, East Van Jam, Explorer’s Press, Scout & Catalogue, Strathcona Stockings, Anita Sikma, AW by Andrea Wong, Fieldwork, and Sunday Dry Goods. The Western Front was established in 1973 and is one of Canada’s leading centres for contemporary art and new music, dedicated to producing and presenting exhibitions, new music concerts, media art residencies, and other artist-driven initiatives.
