ITS PRONOUNCED LUTE: Main Streets modern fashion darling Lüt Boutique (4219 Main) is hosting its first ever Pop-up Spring Market tonight (March 31) from 5:30 9:30pm. Shop, mingle and check out new designs by local designers. Refreshments will be available with proceeds benefitting Japan relief.

CREAM OF THE CROP: Yaletowns Moods Salon (1070 Mainland St., 604-688-1574, MoodsHairSalon.com) can add another trophy to its case. Stylist Chad Taylor (work pictured above) has been named 2011 Canadian Hairstylist of the Year at this years Mirror Awards, said to be the Oscars of Canadian hair design. Taylors no stranger to winning last year he took home Canadian Hairstylist of the Year and BC Hairstylist of the Year at the Contessa Awards (which, we can only assume, is like the Golden Globes of Canadian hair design?).

UNDER FIFTY IS NIFTY: Spruce up your spring wardrobe without breaking the bank at the fourth annual Nifty for Fifty sale on Sunday, Apr. 3 at Heritage Hall (3012 Main), 11am 8pm. The sale features vintage finds, clothes and accessories by local designers Adhesif Clothing Co., Ashley Watson, Schaart Clothing and more. Everything is under $50. Need we say more?

WHEN I DIP, YOU DIP, WE DIP: Finally, semi-permanent mascara has arrived in Canada! Vancouvers exclusive lashes-only lounge, Noir Lash Lounge (various locations, NoirLashLounge.com), now offers LashDip services. Already popular in the USA, lashes are dipped in a gel-like substance and sculpted to add volume and curl. The treatment lasts 4 to 6 weeks, and promises to reach the bottoms of lashes without smudging. Does this mean no more raccoon eyes?
