West End artist Kirsten Chursinoff loves "the repetitive motion of needles and thread through cloth." Traditional textiles, she says, give her roots while contemporary methods of turning textiles into art give her freedom. (Her chickadee is pictured below.)
Meanwhile, Vanessa T. Cunningham uses a blend of felting, weaving and embroidery to create one-of-a-kind wraps that are a tactile expression of her creativity. The two textile artists are teaming up for In the Garden, an exhibit at Granville Island's Net Loft that runs until June 18.
