If youre planning to hit the Tofino waves this summer, Steve Nash Fitness Club suggests you hit the gym first.
A new program for aspiring surfers allows you to get the surfer body, without the ocean.
The Surfset program uses a Rip Surfer X board a mock surfboard designed to give the real surf experience and a real workout. Developed by professional hockey player Mike Hartwick, Surfset evolved from his love of surfing and appreciation for the lean and toned muscles that it gave him.
While it might not be as exciting as hitting real waves, Surfset promises to get you fit and ready for the real thing.
With this, it gives you the basic surfing moves, but also gives you strength for the muscles that you need for surfing, says Surfset trainer Princess Labrador.
In this class you target everything from the strength component, to the balance component and just like any other fitness class, all levels are welcome.
Surfset classes are available at the Steve Nash Fitness Club downtown locations.
