Get idolized: He may be pushing 60 but Billy Idol’s famous spiky hairdo is still going strong and apparently so is the rest of him. The artist formerly known as William Broad plays the Queen E. tonight and it likely won’t just be a mix of mouldy oldies given the godfather of pop-punk has a brand-new album out, Kings and Queens of the Underground, not to mention a new autobiography called (obviously) Dancing with Myself.
Get entertained: The Harlem Globetrotters have been spinning balls on their fingers and pulling down their opponent’s shorts for nearly a century and bring their family-friendly mix of basketball-based comedy to Pacific Coliseum. The Globetrotters, as always, will be taking on the long-suffering Washington Generals, who are probably due for a win, although no doubt the ‘Trotters will be pumped after being reunited with their inflatable mascot Big G who was stolen from their bus earlier this week.
Get some hot real estate tips: Vancouver’s surreal real estate scene gets the TED Talks treatment at the Vancouver Playhouse. RED Talks brings “the most successful real estate and development celebrities” to share their tricks of the trade to potential buyers and sellers with a panel discussion moderated by Cam Good, president of The Key.
Get green: Federal Green Party leader, new author and perennial optimist Elizabeth May gives a free talk at UBC’s School of Theology about the state of the environment and other pressing concerns. Worth taking the time in case they don’t let her join the televised leaders’ debates for this year’s election either.
Get heartbroken: Living alt-country legend and three-time Grammy winner Lucinda Williams plays the Vogue in support of her new double studio LP Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, the debut release for her own Highway 20 Records.
