Did you know that two-toed sloths can hold their pee for 156 hours?

The Vancouver Aquarium invites little ones and their grownups to experience the weird and wonderful world of aquatic critters and more over spring break this March.

Not only will kids get to explore the aquarium’s diverse galleries filled with more than 50,000 curious creatures, but they can participate in a range of special activities.

For example, kids can learn about why African penguins have two sets of eyelids during the “Meet a Penguin” program, which takes places every day at 2:15 p.m. In addition, they can get up-close-and-personal with a red-footed tortoise or a ball python during feature programs at 11:45 a.m.

Kids may also learn why sharks are the ultimate apex predators of the ocean during Shark: A 4-D Experience in the 4-D theatre every half-hour starting at 11:15 a.m. Also, the aquarium team and puppet troupe keep youth in stitches during an engaging family-friendly program in the Pacific Canada Pavilion at 10:45 a.m. Little ones can also go behind the scenes and come face-to-face with the adorable sea otters, sea lions or penguins during an Animal Encounter.

The aquarium also offers the Inside & Out Family Sleepover on Saturday, March 16, which invites kids to explore the aquarium through a range of unique activities. They’ll get to venture behind the scenes and learn all about the wonders of ocean before heading down for a scrumptious continental breakfast.

Spring break AquaCamps are another great way for school-aged children (four to 12 years old) to have a blast learning about ocean life. The camps run all day during both weeks of spring break and include a variety of fun activities that allow kids to get hands-on with sea creatures, make some cool arts and crafts, and visit the aquarium’s fascinating galleries.

For even more spring break fun, the Vancouver Aquarium is extending its hours and will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. from March 16 to 31.
