Framemaker has the look

For a truly local eye-opening shopping experience, check out Gastown eyewear collection, MOSHdesigns, by framemaker Sara Moshurchak. Sourcing small-batch materials from factories in Italy, MOSHdesigns crafts each frame by hand in its studio. There are no computerized machines, no assembly lines, and each piece is crafted by Moshurchak, who is one of a small number of female framemakers in the world.

Designer to watch

Designer Isabelle Dunlop of Isabelle Dunlop Clothing was picked by jurors as the top talent in the fashion design industry for Vancouver Creatives 2, a photo exhibit and general celebration of contemporary art and design in the city. Scottish-born Dunlop has long been a fixture in the Vancouver fashion scene as the former co-owner of The Block in Gastown. Today, she runs a charming boutique where she makes her namesake feminine designs at 4158 Main and is also a singer and co-founder of the band Combine The Victorious.

Vancouver designer in the running

And then there were three. Marketplace Events, producer of the Vancouver Home + Design Show, today recently announced the trio of finalists vying for the title of Western Canada’s Next Home Stylist, in partnership with Urban Barn and Western Living. Vancouver’s Tijana Popovic will compete with Albertans Ryan Massel and Christina Dennis in a series of three challenges in order to win the coveted title, plus a $1,000 Urban Barn shopping spree, media exposure across two provinces, and the opportunity to appear on-stage at this fall’s home and design shows in Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton.
