What a time to be alive: You can now get poutine made with Kool-Aid in Vancouver

If you’re running a multi-national fast food poutine chain rooted in ’80s nostalgia, a larger-than-life pitcher of a sugary, fruity beverage is bound to crash through a brick wall at some point, and merge with your Quebecois-inspired loaded fries.

If you’re running a multi-national fast food poutine chain rooted in ’80s nostalgia, a larger-than-life pitcher of a sugary, fruity beverage is bound to crash through a brick wall at some point, and merge with your Quebecois-inspired loaded fries.

The result is Toronto-based poutine chain Smoke’s Poutinerie’s outrageous new creation, Kool-Aid infused poutine.

Smokes Poutinerie invited us down this week to try their new Kool-Aid Poutine! They are everything you love about Smokes with Kool-Aid infused sauces. The first pic is Rockin Cherry Bomb Red, which is their classic poutine topped with flatiron steak, chow mein noodles, green onions and Cherry Kool-Aid BBQ sauce. Their basic poutine is already some of the best in town, and the sauce added a nice sweetness. I also loved the crunch of the noodles in there. Give it a try if you’re partaking in the many vices of Hess Village. What’s your favourite poutine in #hamont? Smoke’s has just launched two Kool-Aid Poutine options: “OHHHH Yeah Orange” and “Rockin’ Cherry Bomb Red.” The Kool-Aid flavouring is used in the sauces, so in the Cherry Bomb one, you’re getting the chain’s classic poutine topped with flatiron steak, chow mein noodles, green onions and Cherry Kool-Aid BBQ sauce.

Smoke’s calls these “WEIRD, WILD + WACKY gastronomical creations,” in an emailed press release, and, just by description alone, that seems dead accurate.

If you want to see how the Kool-Aid Poutines taste, they’ll be available only until March 24. Smoke’s Poutinerie has about 150 locations in Canada and the U.S., however in B.C. they have a handful of locations, including on the SFU and BCIT campuses in Burnaby, at Rogers Arena, and on Granville in Vancouver, as well as in Kamloops and Kelowna.
