Here’s a little inspiration for anyone planning a road trip to Oregon this spring break or summer.

This gift pack includes a copy of Dishing up Oregon by food writer Ashley Gartland, who spent years exploring the state’s culinary traditions and farm-to-table offerings in search of the best farmers and producers — and convincing them to part with their recipes.

With delectable dishes that range from hazelnut-crusted salmon with balsamic vinaigrette to blackberry bread pudding and flank steak with sorrel salsa verde to rustic pear galette, Gartland covers the entire range of Oregonian cuisine.

Profiles of local food producers are paired with stunning photography by John Valls of Oregon’s farms, inns and vineyards, bringing the state’s vibrant food and drink scene to life.

One of those producers highlighted is Rogue Creamery, which in 2019 won top prize at the esteemed World Cheese Awards with its small-batch Rogue River Blue. (It’s really good.)

This Oregon gift pack also includes a Pacific West Coast-inspired, white-birch scented candle and Travel Oregon apron to use while whipping up a pear and prosciutto pizza or sweet cider onion marmalade.

The rules to enter are easy. Be the 10th person to email me at sthomas@vancourier.com with the word “Oregon” in the subject line and you win. You must, however, be able to pick up your prize pack from the Courier’s office on West Fifth Avenue by March 13.

The prize pack has no monetary value.
