While there are plenty of fabulous consignment shops on Main Street, none of them have window displays quite like Front and Company, this years winner for Best Vintage Clothing Store. Lush and theatrical, the windows are designed twice a year by creative director Sonia Capriceru and implemented collectively by the staff.
Its high-fashion details like these that put the store (a mix of vintage consignment and new clothing and accessories, as well as an eclectic gift shop next door) in a league of its own. After a fire three years ago, the 18-year-old store expanded and renovated, attracting a wider following with its brand new look. It revamped everyones perception of what Front and Company was really about, says store manager Dan Carlos. [People saw that] yes, we really were a fashion-forward store and that we were going to covet Main Street as a more fashion-centered area.
The store is incredibly selective with the vintage items it consigns from its pool of more than 5,000 consigners. The selection process is pretty thorough, explains Carlos. We pick gems. Instead of taking whatever comes in, we are really thorough, making sure that everything we are taking in is high-quality, fashion-forward, and a one-of-a-kind piece.
