BIRDS NEST CAPES

North Shore-based outdoor clothing manufacturer Arc'teryx will be giving out wind and waterproof capes for Vancouver's homeless as part of an initiative inspired by employees called the Birds Nest Project.

North Shore-based outdoor clothing manufacturer Arc'teryx will be giving out wind and waterproof capes for Vancouver's homeless as part of an initiative inspired by employees called the Birds Nest Project. This is the fourth year the company will hand out the capes, which are all made from leftover material that would otherwise be thrown away. Volunteers will be sewing up to 700 capes this year, which now have an added liner for warmth. The Vancouver Police Department will help distribute the capes over the winter.

"To place these capes directly into the hands of those who need them most is significant. To receive a cape at their 'home'" is exactly where it is needed the most," Says Const. Jo-dyne Keller.
