For four years, Shaun Verreault sang his way across Canada and the United States as part of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train. At every stop, the lead singer with Wide Mouth Mason helped raise money for food banks. The people he met along the way made him realize that while the media often reports on what can seem like an often overwhelming need for donations, the compassion of his fellow Canadians sometimes gets short shrift.

Sometimes its almost a secret how people will dig deep to help their neighbours, he told WE after a taping at the annual Christmas food drive at CityTV on Friday morning.

He applauded that generosity during his interview with Breakfast TV co-host Jody Vance as he shared stories of just how cold it could be during some of those train stops. CityTV raised almost $154,000 that morning and since every dollar raised will have a triple impact, thats a lot of food put on Vancouver residents tables.
