A 54-year-old Burnaby man was killed in an early morning collision on West Broadway on Wednesday.

The Vancouver Police Department says that at 6:15 a.m. on August 15, they were called to West Broadway near Yew Street. A motorcyle, driven by the Burnaby man, and an SUV had collided. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 64-year-old Vancouver man, remained at the scene, police say, and is cooperating with the investigation.

West Broadway between Arbutus and Yew streets remains closed while the VPD's collision investigation unit collects evidence to determine what may have caused the collision. They ask anyone who  witnessed the collision or who was driving in the area between 6 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. and has dash-cam footage to call 604-717-3012.

This is Vancouver’s seventh traffic-related fatality in 2018.
