One man is facing robbery charges after two bank robberies near Broadway and Commercial Drive over the weekend.
Police received a report of a bank robbery on Commercial Drive just after 1 p.m. on Saturday. A second bank was robbed 30 minutes later on East Broadway and Commercial Drive.
The suspect got away in a car and was involved in a collision with four other vehicles a short time later and officers were able to move in and arrested the alleged suspects at Clark and East First Avenue.
Four people in one of the vehicles were taken to hospital following the crash. Three had minor injuries but one person, a woman in her 50s visiting from Brazil, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
One suspect, a 23-year-old man, is facing two counts of robbery and police have recommended charges against his female passenger.
