PNE AMPHITHEATRE
This is the last weekend for the Pacific National Exhibition, which wraps up Sept. 3.
But with more than 700 shows, exhibits and attractions free with admission, there's still lots to explore and experience even if you've been a regular visitor this summer.
For the late fairgoer, there's Pop City: A Pyro Celebration! This musical pyrotechnics extravaganza takes place nightly at 10: 15 p.m. at the PNE Amphitheatre
FESTIVAL SQUARE
Kids can dance, stretch and giggle along with The Ohmies, a children's musical troupe I was not familiar with until I conducted a little online research.
As it turns out, the group is wildly popular with the three-to-eight year-old crowd who are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild as they sing along to original music, hop like a grasshopper, slither like a snake, fly like a butterfly and help The Ohmies shake off their worries. Kids can get active with Bella Butterfly, Carlin Caterpillar and all of their friends on their way to surprise Mr. Sun and see their wish garden bloom. (That sounds like the last Courier staff party.) This interactive musical experience takes place daily at 12: 30 and 4: 30 p.m. at Festival Square.
PACIFIC COLISEUM
One of my favourite exhibits at the PNE is always the SuperDogs, which is back for its 35th year with wagging tails, upbeat music and stunning spectacles. The SuperDogs perform daily at 1: 30, 3: 30 and 7: 30 p.m. at the Pacific Coliseum.
MILLER DRIVE
KC Bear's Summer Jam show is a character musical for the entire family, but I suspect is most popular with the little ones.
Celebrate summer with KC Bear and all of his friends as they perform fun-loving musical shows at 12: 30 and 2: 30 p.m. on Miller Drive.

DOWNTOWN EASTSIDE
Megaphone Magazine and Music Waste have collaborated once again to present the annual Victory Square Block Party, a free event Sunday, Sept. 2 that celebrates and supports both the community and Vancouver's music scene.
The party begins at 2 p.m. with an opening ceremony by Blue Whistling Horse, an aboriginal drum group, and continues to 9 p.m. with performances by the Ballantynes, Indian Wars, Mode Moderne, manik 1derful, Too High Crew, Weed and Love Cuts. I'm not sure if Weed performs before Too High Crew, but that would make sense.
Megaphone executive director Sean Condon describes the party as a celebration of community, including the local music scene and the homeless and low-income vendors who sell the street magazine.
