The man who was found unconscious at a bus stop earlier this week in the Downtown Eastside has died.
Vancouver police say that it appears 51-year-old Martin James MacDonald had been involved in an altercation some time before he was discovered on the sidewalk in front of the Astoria Hotel at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The Coquitlam resident was in serious medical distress.
Police say he may have hit his head as a result of the altercation.
Paramedics rushed him to the hospital where he remained in critical condition before he died on Feb. 10.
A 42-year-old Vancouver man was arrested at the scene and has been released pending further investigation by the VPD’s Major Crime Section.
