The 2011 Northwest League championship Vancouver Canadians are on their final road series of the regular season, playing in Yakima and chasing the top spot of the West Division.
At the beginning of the week, the Cs topped the standings but didnt do so alone. They shared the rank and their 20-14 record with the Eugene Emeralds.
They slipped behind Tuesday after a 9-1 loss to the Bears at Yakima County Stadium. At the same time, Eugene lost and then beat the Spokane Chiefs to edge the Cs in the standings. Vancouver plays in Yakima Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. First pitch thrown nightly at 7:05 p.m.
These top two teams -- the Canadians at .571 and the Emeralds at .538 -- are elbowing to keep atop the standings and play for the West Division pennant. The winner advances to the Northwest League championship series against the East Division representative.
Tickets for the 2012 playoffs are on sale now. If the Cs dont advance, the cost of tickets will be reimbursed by the baseball club.
If the Cs can maintain a top-two finish, Game One of the West Division will be held at Nat Bailey Stadium at 1 p.m. on Sept. 3.
