A 73-year-old man died after his car collided with a bus in East Vancouver.

The Vancouver Police Department says that just before 9 a.m. on Sat., July 7, a Translink bus was eastbound on East Hastings Street approaching Princess Avenue.

Police believe that the bus was entering the intersection on a green light when a car going north on Princess Street drove through the intersection and in front of the bus. The bus collided with the car, which spun and hit an unoccupied parked vehicle.

The driver of the car was the vehicle's only occupant. He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.

The police have no further information to release at this time.
