Brendan Gallagher is on the threshold of Vancouver Giants history.
The 19-year-old skater with the WHL hockey club is one goal and 10 points shy of tying record holder, Adam Courchaine, who notched 126 goals and 273 career points in four seasons with the Giants.
Two goals tonight against the Everett Silvertips would elevate Gallagher as the all-time franchise top scorer. Gallagher, who played for Team Canada at the 2011 junior national tournament, has 125 goals, 138 assists and 263 points in 227 regular season games with the Giants.
The Giants host the Silvertips tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Pacific Coliseum.
Selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL entry draft, Gallagher signed a three-year contract with the Habs last fall and played five exhibition games with the NHL team. He recorded one assist.
The Giants have 35 points and sit in fifth place in the Western Conference, trail the conference leading Portland Winterhawks by 15 points. The Giants have 18 games remaining in their regular season schedule, nine at home and nine on the road.
