Thanks to the lockout between the National Hockey League and the players, the 2013 Kraft Hockeyville program has been cancelled. Instead, Kraft Canada has announced a new initiative called Kraft Hockey Goes On, through which $1 million will be donated to Hockey Canada affiliated minor-hockey associations across the country. The program will recognize the top five volunteers from across Canada who've made a difference with $100,000 for their minor hockey association.
As well, another 20 volunteers will be recognized and $20,000 donated to their local hockey association, while Hockey Canada will receive $100,000 to distribute towards Learn to Skate programs at the local level. Nominations for deserving volunteers will be accepted from Jan. 21 to March 8 2013. To find out how to get involved today, visit KraftHockeyGoesOn.ca.
