The site of East Vancouver’s iconic Dairy Queen Brazier may soon be redeveloped into rental apartments.
The Dairy Queen at East Hastings and Lakewood Drive, built in 1969, is known for its original Brazier sign — however, it may soon be demolished for construction of a six-storey rental building, Urban YVR reports.
Developer Mosaic Homes and Yamamoto Architecture proposed a redbrick structure with 42 secured market rentals units at 2109 East Hastings St. The site sold last year for $5.45 million.
The mixed-use structure also includes three ground level retail units, one of which is slated for a 2,690-square-foot restaurant space.
The first open house on the development will take place Nov. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Aboriginal Friendship Centre at 1607 East Hastings St.
