IHIT investigating homicide of Delta man

Investigators believe the death of Ian Roberts of Delta was not a random act.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is investigating the homicide of a Delta man after his body was found Monday afternoon in a rural area of Pitt Meadows.

During a news conference Thursday morning, IHIT spokesperson Cpl. Frank Jang said Ridge Meadows RCMP received a 911 call on Monday around 2:30 p.m. alerting police to the body in the 14500-block of Hale Road in Pitt Meadows.

Police have identified the man as 43-year-old Ian Roberts of Delta, who is said to be known to police. Police believe his death was not a random act.

IHIT also confirmed that earlier on Monday, Langley RCMP recovered a red 1996 GMC Jimmy associated with Roberts near 56th Ave. and Logan Ave. in Langley.

Police are asking anyone from the public to come forward who may have seen the SUV between Saturday and 6 a.m. on Monday.
