We're all one good idea way from being a modern-day Horatio Alger character. But inspiration is only one very small part of the equation. As for the perspiration, that's what separates those who do from those who don't.
Whether your goal is worldwide domination or if you just have an idea that needs help getting off the ground, Startup Week Vancouver will no doubt show you how to get the most out of your sweat equity.
Presented by the Vancouver Economic Commission, Startup Week features more than 60 events covering everything from crowdfunding, to bitcoins, to beer pong!
Complete strangers will form teams, create business plans, and pitch their startup to a team of veteran investors and entrepreneurs.
The week-long event gets under way with the Startup Weekend, beginning tonight at The Profile in Gastown with open mic pitches where attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday, teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening, teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of empowered entrepreneurs who are learning and sharing the basics of launching successful businesses. This year alone they've put on 1,800 events in 120 countries around the world.
Classes and seminars continue all through next week as part of the larger Startup Week Vancouver. For the full lineup of event running Nov. 14 to 21, visit StartupWeekVancouver.ca
