Morning spike in overdoses leads to police warning

Twelve suspected overdoses in a single neighbourhood are prompting the Vancouver Police department to warn opioid drug uses to be extra cautious.

Twelve suspected overdoses in a single neighbourhood are prompting the Vancouver Police department to warn opioid drug uses to be extra cautious.

Since early Saturday morning, police were advised of 12 suspected drug overdoses in the area of Columbia and Gore Street in the Downtow. Fortunately none of those overdoses resulted in a death.

Police are recommending that drug users take precautions in light of the rash of overdoses and the ongoing opioid crisis.

•  Do not use alone
• Carry naloxone

• In the event of an overdose, call 9-1-1 immediately
